As part of the group presentation to Philips I made an animation of the bats using the cross section which Adam made, and bat ‘paintbrushes’ made on photoshop manipulated to make them look like they were in flight. Unlike a murmuration of starlings which appears pretty organised, by comparison the flight of bats is very haphazard, which would be felt by the viewer when they are anywhere underneath the installation. I had the idea that in spite of this randomness it could be interesting to have one viewing point, like from the bridge for example, where they aline to make a bigger image of a bat, or maybe simply a rectangle.
